I liked the picture of you and the other work of Mr. Hawkins at his website. I guess a lot of people want get the reference, but, his work is reminiscent of Harlem Renaissance artist Richmond Barthe. The picture of you above, in particular, reminds me of a picture of Harold Jackman done by Barthe.

It's pretty obvious Mr. Hawkins puts real emotion and skill into his work, a sign of any good artist....and writers like Darden.

Hey I met Bruce this summer in Harlem at a party given by my brother's friend. It was a hot party too and his brownstone was nice. Bruce is vibrant guy and enjoyable to be around. I learned he was into theater but didn't know about his drawing. Beautiful work...
