Clik Honors: Elite 25
So I've been making people aware of the opportunity to submit nominations for the Clik Magazine Elite 25. If you're interested in nominating me, you can:
1) Visit clikhonors.com/html/clik_honors.html
2) Click on Nominations on the left hand side of the screen.
3) Go to category #6, Books/Literature.
4) Type my name and anything else you'd like to say about me.
Some of you might want to write about my career in education and youth development, and that's fine -- that's part of me. So is writing my novels and poetry, speaking on various college campuses, working with APO and Alpha Phi Alpha, blogging about the minutia (sp?) that is my life....if you feel like I make a difference in some way, send Clik Magazine a few sentences. And it's done. Just like that.
They will announce the finalists in a few days. I'm not campaigning! Just making y'all aware of the opportunity. It's not too often that black gay folks honor other black gay folks like this!

Peace, Rashid:
Hey, brother! Is any of your poetry published? If so, where? It will be good to be able to refer to the sources of your published work in making a nomination.

DONE!
Thanks for inspiring me to nominate you for the Clik Awards. I took the opportunity to nominate other people as well who have made significant contributions in their various fields. It took me a LONG TIME to fill out that nomination form. However, I nominated you along with the following individuals: Patrik-Ian Polk (TV producer, writer, director); Michael Ashanti (vocalist, executive music producer, music producer and songwriter); Emanuel Xavier (editor or "Bullets & Butterflies: queer spoken word poetry" anthology); James Saunders (Black Gay Events Promoter); John Rankin (actor - "The Ski Trip" - the film was released in 2004, but the DVD was just released this year); Jasmyne Cannick (activist/blogger); malik m. l. williams (photographer); and the late, great Willi Ninja (inventor, dancer, choreographer - the legendary Godfather of Voguing). I may have nominated one or two others, forgive me. My brain is running on fumes, right now. A brother needs to sleep! (Yes, in the day time) What?
Now all you have to do is find something stunning to wear to sashay down the red carpet outside the Clik Awards (and have sound bites ready for the press)! (smile)
